The GoldCoast Chapter of ASHRAE is pleased to announce our topic for the May 14th meeting. Instead of the usual one person presentation we will have a round table discussion among the major chiller manufacturers.

Topics which are of importance to all designers, contractors and building owners and operators shall be discussed.

This format should yield different perspectives of today’s hottest topics and could foster some lively discussions. If time permits topics from the audience will be entertained.

If there is a question you would like discussed please forward it to Joe Fellmeth at the social hour and he will work it into the round table discussion.

Topics which have already been
submitted and are under
consideration for inclusion are:

A Message From Our President
Richard SeferianDear Gold Coast ASHRAE member:

Once again our chapter and its officers have qualified the Gold Coast Chapter for the “Full Circle Award”. Our local chapter officers have made contributions to ASHRAE for resource improvement which includes Research Promotion.

Tony Rosa was our speaker for the April meeting held at the Marriott North. Tony shared many examples of Energy Efficiency Leadership provided by our local government. His practical analysis of Life Cycle costing was intriguing and beneficial for the members.

Tony’s presentation coupled with Bill Coad’s presentation in March provided our membership with the techniques to manage our natural resources through innovative design, procurement and contracting practices.

Johnson Controls will have held their second annual golf tournament on May 2nd to benefit the Gold Coast Chapter of ASHRAE by the time this Newsletter reaches you. Look for pictures and accounts of the event in next month’s newsletter.

Sincerely,

Richard Seferian

Re: Chapter/Regional - ASHRAE Technology Awards

Fellow members:

Our Chapter is asking all Consulting Engineers from Broward or
those that do work in Broward County to participate and submit
projects of their choice for the ASHRAE Technology Awards.
The projects must be completed in the design aspect to
participate in the Chapter and Regional Level. In order to
qualify for the national Award the projects must have been
completed and been in operation for at least a year.

The projects can be in any part of the country if designed
by an Engineer of Broward County. An Engineer outside of
Broward County can participate if the project they are
submitting is in Broward County. The work shall be submitted
before the end of October. A minimum of two projects, depending
on the amount of entries, would then be selected to participate
in the Regional Awards; these projects will be announced at the
November’s Chapter Meeting.

We would also like to see our Consulting Engineers from our
Chapter participate in the Awards selection Committee. If you
wish to participate in this committee please contact our chapter
or myself at the above number.

If you have any questions regarding the above, please contact
me at your earliest convenience.

Sincerely,

John G. Rodriguez
TEGA Chairperson
