virtually all of today’s primary concerns.

Foam based, pre-insulated air ducting system is designed for
the commercial and light industrial sectors of the market.
This technology offers several advantages over conventional
ductwork, which in turn resolves many common design
issues such as weight, space, installation time, energy
performance, and more.

The presentation will highlight unique features over conventional
systems, and provide a full technical discussion on the product
which will include design considerations, fabrication, and
installation details.

About Our Speaker
Joe Vincenti is the Business Development Manager of Koolduct
Systems for Knauf Insulation GmbH. Knauf is a leading
manufacturer of fiber glass insulation products and has recently
secured the exclusive distribution rights for the Koolduct System
in North America from Italian manufacturer Pal International.

Mr. Vincenti graduated Cum Laude from Washington State
University with a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical
Engineering and also holds a Masters of Business
Administration from Pepperdine University. The majority of his
eight years involvement with Koolduct were spent abroad.
He successfully established and developed a company in
London to market and distribute Koolduct throughout the UK.
In addition, he has supported Pal with their international sales
and training (Asia, Africa, and Middle East), and Koolduct’s
general product development.

A Message From Our President

Joe FellmethThis month I would like to welcome
Suzanne LeViseur our ASHRAE Region’s
Director Regional Chair to our meeting.
Suzanne will talk to us for a few minutes,
updating us on important Society and
Regional news and events. I would like to
thank all those who came out and
supported our annual Spring Golf
Tournament. I would especially
like to thank Richard Seferian
and Johnson Controls who organized
the event for us. They did another great job for the third year
in a row. This year we had approximately 60 golfers and raised
between 3 to 4 thousand dollars for the Chapter.

Litening SportfishingThis coming June is our
second annual fishing
tournament. All the proceeds
go to ASHRAE Resource
Promotion goal, which we
a good showing to meet our
annual goal. It should be
another fun event for those
who like to spend a little time
out in South Florida’s
beautiful waters. So whether
you are a diehard fisherman
or just want to soak up
some sun on a relaxing day out on the ocean, please sign up. In
preparation for this event we will hold a fishing clinic during our
June 9th meeting / social. Captain Leo DeMattia from Litening
Sportfishing will be our speaker. If you are a corporation or
individual who wants to enter the tournament and do not have
access to a boat, I would highly recommend Captain Leo’s
Boat. The following is a link to his website
www.liteningsportfishing.com
.

Last month we sponsored a satellite broadcast on Homeland
Security which was well attended by local municipalities.
Thanks to all those who attended. Also on May 25th we are
planning a joint Student Chapter Meeting at lunch-time to
discuss thermal energy storage and careers in HVAC at Coral
Springs High. We are expecting to sign up nearly 30 new
student members this year, so if you are interested in attending
please give me a call at the (754) 321-0444. As details are
finalized I will email them to all members on our email list.

Also I would like to thank all those who attended the Building &
Facilities Maintenance Show. I was pleased to give a presentation
on the School Board of Broward County’s Energy Conservation
Efforts at the show, and would like to thank those members
who attended.

Sincerely,

Joe Fellmeth

Gold Coast Chapter Resource & Promotion Update

We have two remaining scheduled events for this year’s Resource Promotion fund raising campaign. The 2nd annual “THE WAR” fishing tournament and the co-sponsored FES-ASHRAE seminar on “Designing to Control Moisture and Mold in Florida’s Humid Climate”.

The “WAR” fishing tournament is scheduled for June 12th, 2004. The tournament will be held at Sands Harbor Hotel & Marina, in Pompano Beach located on the intracoastal.

The “WAR” is about fishing, fun and a unique format of competition. The “WAR” has the typical fishing fleet competition and also includes a unique friendly competition amongst professional peers. There are three categories for the competition amongst; A) Engineers, B) Contractors and C) Vendors (Manufacture Representatives, Sales Engineers/Salespersons in General). See the attached flyer for more information.

We need you to register fishing teams, whether you are a fisherman or not. Al you need is a boat and a few people to compete and have a great time while support a worthy ASHRAE cause. We also need corporate sponsors and volunteers to assist in the planning and running the tournament for our chapter. This event is paramount to our chapter’s successfully reaching our Resource & Promotion goals.

The upcoming co-sponsored FES training on “Designing to Control Moisture and Mold in Florida’s Humid Climate” will be held on June 4th, 2004 in Coral Gables at the Hyatt Regency. The seminar will provide 4 –PDH for registered Florida PE licenses. See the attached seminar flyer, and when you sign-up [please list the ASHRAE Gold Coast Chapter affiliation. If you fail to write-in the ASHRAE Gold Coast chapter affiliation, we will not receive the fund raising contribution FES will send our chapter.

You may get a hold of me via telephone at my office (954) 625-1015, cell (954) 325-9675 or e-mail me at dan.rogers@york.com.
