Well have you heard the latest news about the scheduled dates for our two (2) remaining events, The Joint ASHRAE Gulf Stream & ASHRAE Gold Coast Chapters training seminar scheduled for Thursday March 20, 2003 to be held at the Marriott Hotel on Cypress Creek, same place we have our monthly meetings.

The seminar is based on ASHRAE's best selling publication, the Humidity Control Design Guide for Commercial Buildings, which was created by ASHRAE Learning Institute (ALI). This will provide Registered PE’s, four (4) PDH hours of continuing education.

  2. The “WAR” fishing tournament is scheduled for Saturday, May 31, 2003. The tournament will be held at Harbor Grill, on Dania Beach on the intercoastal, the old Tug Boat Annie’s restaurant.

The “WAR” is about fishing, but mainly to have fun. Re: Chapter/Regional - ASHRAE Technology Awards

Fellow members:

Our Chapter is asking all Consulting Engineers from Broward or
those that do work in Broward County to participate and submit
projects of their choice for the ASHRAE Technology Awards.
The projects must be completed in the design aspect to
participate in the Chapter and Regional Level. In order to
qualify for the national Award the projects must have been
completed and been in operation for at least a year.

The projects can be in any part of the country if designed
by an Engineer of Broward County. An Engineer outside of
Broward County can participate if the project they are
submitting is in Broward County. The work shall be submitted
before the end of October. A minimum of two projects, depending
on the amount of entries, would then be selected to participate
in the Regional Awards; these projects will be announced at the
November’s Chapter Meeting.

We would also like to see our Consulting Engineers from our
Chapter participate in the Awards selection Committee. If you
wish to participate in this committee please contact our chapter
or myself at the above number.

If you have any questions regarding the above, please contact
me at your earliest convenience.

Sincerely,

John G. Rodriguez
TEGA Chairperson

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is sponsoring a LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) workshop

Schedule is as follows:
Friday, March 7, 2003
The Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center

For the first time, the U. S. Green Buildings Council is bringing the full day intermediate workshop to South Florida and the county is sponsoring the event to strengthen regionalism and foster environmentally responsible development. Commissioner Kristen Jacobs will be on hand to provide welcoming remarks.

To ensure the success of the event, The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is asking everyone to pass the information along to both their membership lists and any other interested parties. To keep the class to a manageable size, enrollment for the workshop is limited to 78 people. We do expect a sell out, so you're encouraged to register early.

Thanks for your interest, and I hope to see you March 7.
